Early retirement for Santa

At this time of year we’re all looking forward to a little time off work, some even looking forward to the time when they give up work for good.  The new retirement statistics are in and it doesn’t read well for those wanting to retire early without having already made provisions for themselves.

10.4% of the over 65s are still working, this is double the number from 20 years ago. The average age on leaving the workforce is 65.1 years for men, up from 63.1 in 1998. For women the change is starker with the average exit age up to 63.9 years from 60.6.

I now know what I’ll be asking Santa for this year……
